Are you an American Idol?

So, I am sharing in this wonderful meal with my mother and my fiance tonight and my mom wants to watch American Idol, she loves the show.  We are watching it and it is one of the elimination stages, she is all into the show and knows all the contestants names and has decided for herself who should be eliminated and who shoudn't.  I couldn't help but find it amusing for so many reasons, one, I don't watch much Television so getting just pummeled with advertisements for all these things I "need" in my life to be accepted and cool is absolutely a riot and then going back to the show it is amazing how absorbed one can get in the lives of others.

My mom (and mind you I do love my mom), is just captivated with this show, so much so that she hasn't missed an episode since it started.  That alone is amazing to me, over the past couple of years I have removed myself from watching television so much that besides what I learn from researching on the Internet I have to admit that I have become somewhat lost contact with popular culture.  That doesn't bother me at all, in fact, I am quite happy with my current state of affairs and I would like to think that I use my time quite productively and make the most out of my life while awake.

What lead me to this subject and title for my blog tonight, I wonder, do you consider yourself an American Idol?  Not the type that is on this show, that "Idol" that has the best image and singing voice, I'm talking about a person (perhaps yourself) that spends their time making a difference in the lives of others while enjoying themselves along the way.  Are you one of these people? 

I would like to think that I am for the most part, I can see the difference I am making in others lives on a daily basis by just being myself and I know that the butterfly effect or the ripple effect of what I am doing is spreading all across this nation so in that respect I am indeed an American Idol.  People look up to my actions and make decisions in their own life that reflect mine.  That is an amazing thing to become aware of let me tell you.

I write this with complete humility and from the humblest part of my being, I am not boasting, nor am I claiming anything I can't back up.  What I am pointing out is that whether you acknowledge it or not you are in fact an American Idol yourself.  Someone, somewhere (and I assure you more than just someone, it is many) are making some of their choices and decisions based directly after what you have done in their presence.  This goes for everybody everywhere, we are all idolized to some degree and more importantly our own ego is what fuels our decisions.  We essentially idolize ourselves then constantly, if our perception of reality is based on material possessions and what we think others will think of us then we are distracted from what WE think and more importantly know is best for us.

What I am getting at is that mind over matter is real, what we think in turn becomes our reality.  If you think positively then positive things will come to you.  If you hold on to negativity, then, you guessed it, negative things will manifest themselves in your life as well.  It has not been easy working to eradicate my worries, doubts, and fears from my life but in doing so I have seen such amazing results.  I wake up in the morning and I look forward to what is to come, I look at myself and appreciate my physical features, I acknowledge how healthy and happy I am and this in turn brightens my world enormously.

There are so few occasions that I am actually "sad", mind you that does not mean I do not get upset, feel pain, get hurt, or anything related to the subject.  What it means is that no matter what the situation or circumstances, I choose positive feelings and thoughts when negative one arise, happiness and health are choices and I choose to embrace those as supposed to those other negative feelings. 

I feel like I'm kind of rambling but I think my point is clear, I love this world and I love this life.  When you become more aware of the power of your own thoughts it does become a little more difficult in regards to how often society has taught us to quickly negate our true feelings but once you hold on to the brightness and realize that you are worthy of love, appreciation, admiration, and happiness at all times it becomes much easier to choose just that.

I'm going to stop this before I start repeating myself, did I say repeating myself?  I meant repeating myself, I need to stop repeating myself...

Seriously though, don't take your life too seriously, the point of life is to make the most out of it, it is that simple.  If you want to think about pain and anguish as supposed to health and happiness that is up to you, I will choose the latter and I trust when you think about it, you will as well.  I want you to know that I am enjoying myself right now, more than that I am getting super amped up to attend this up coming Vision Force Boot Camp, I feel this is going to be a very significant experience in my life and that it will become a catalyst of sorts in defining where my life is going to lead when it is done. 

Give thanks and praise to all that you come in contact with, before you start to judge others, think about your situation and realize that you have no idea what their situation is like, live with compassion and love and give that respect and honor to all those you come in contact with as well, I will do my best to do the same.

Before I forget I wanted to add a couple of great news articles that I read today, They all come form Planet Ark, one is Efficient Methods Could Bail Out Biofuels, the next is Wal Mart to Score Electronics Environmentally, and finally Going Green Can Pay Off in Home, these articles are all great little pieces of news from around the world that brighten up any environmentalist world in my opinion.  I know most people reading this already are aware of a lot of this information, what excites me is that these articles are becoming more main stream and you are seeing them in more publications everywhere.

I know green-washing is a big concern and that green living in pop-culture is sometimes considered a fad or something that is currently fashion savvy, what excites me is that beyond the fad and fashion, people are going to start to realize that all these things make sense and that treating our one and only environment like we would treat our own children is going to benefit us now and in the future as well.  Man (and Woman), what a time to be alive...
